I’m a Canadian composer, pianist, writer, web developer, and full-time IT manager. I live with my lovely wife, Hannah, and our two furry felines: Caesar & Layla.
Technical Skills
I’ve been working in the IT and web development industry for over 20 years and I’ve picked up a few things along the way.
- Systems Administration – I currently manage IT systems/support for a large multi-national corporation. Lots of experience with Active Directory, Group Policies, DFS, Microsoft Windows (2000-2019) & Linux (CentOS/Ubuntu) servers, MS Exchange, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams (incl. Phone Systems), WDS, purchasing & deployment of hardware, etc.
- Networking – Cisco/WatchGuard firewalls, SD-WAN, DNS, DHCP, Cisco/HP switches, CAT5/6 cabling, fiber networking, WIFI (Ubiquiti).
- Databases – Extensive experience designing, managing, and troubleshooting MS SQL & MySQL databases including configuring replication and performance tuning.
- Web Development – I’ve built very complex business web applications, public websites, plugins, scripts and more in a variety of languages (C#, VB.NET, PHP, HTML/CSS/JS, PowerShell, Bash, etc). I’ve used both GitLab and GitHub and love developing in Visual Studio Code.
- Security – Management of anti-malware systems (Trend Micro, Vipre, Sophos), investigation & remediation of hacking incidents & malware infections, firewall configuration, VPN, etc.
- Management – Experience managing IT staff and also managing a team of developers on several large web development projects.
- Support – Excellent troubleshooting skills, and have assisted hundreds of users over the years resolve IT problems and find more efficient ways to get work done.
